Some of my photographs I considered lost suddenly emerged somehow. There were other interesting details of Slovak Su-25K airplanes and their armament among them. All those photographs were shot in 2002 inside the hangars of Kuchyna Air Base while it was opened up for public. (Pls. note, that Kuchyna means “kitchen” in Slovak language)
Here are the details of the underwing store and the way how the auxiuliary drop tank is attached. The upper shot is headed backward. The lower photograph depicts the store while facing the plane‘s nose:
The compressor fans and the inner walls of the jet engine air intake are visible on this photograph. To tell you the truth, I do not remember the proper orientation of this shot – so I do not know where the (intake) duct surface has the seam in reality:
No modeller can live without the jet pipe & turbine details. This is the port side engine:
This is the close up of the Su-25K nose with several interesting details here. Note also the shape of the (twin) gun muzzle (visible in the lower right corner):
When talking about the gun – here are some more shots of a removed gun seen from several different views. The 30mm (twin)gun was marked as GŠ-OFZ BR within this exposition. Other sources use different designation, for instance GŠ-30-2 or AO 17.
Please note the legs of visitors standing in the background – for your sense of real scale. Dimensions of this gun are really impressive and evoke deep respect. Especially when one imagines the amount of 250 rounds with 30mm caliber ammo…
And two more close-ups showing the gun muzzle. Please do not miss the details and colours too.
More details concerning Slovak Su-25 can be found in my older articles: Sukhoi Su-25 in our “kitchen” (with the numbering as they go one after another) I., II., III. a IV.
You can find more weapons available to be carried by the Su-25 attack planes in my future post.
If you enjoyed this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d help it spread by sharing it on Facebook.
