Pilatus Porter PC-6 details Pt. II.

This article is about the Pilatus Porter engine compartment and everything you can find in front of the fire wall when you open the cowling doors.  I saw Pilatus Porter’s very short take off and steady steep climb right after it, plus many strange in-flight maneuvers proving the engine’s high power. So it was a suprise for me to see it live – relatively small looking – inside that long Porter’s nose. You can judge for yourself 🙂

Pilatus Porter PC-6 details Pt. I.

icon-1
This is the first post dedicated to the Pilatus TurboPorter type – seen in Austrian services. Some walk around pictures will be in the beginning of the article and we will be coming deeper into details continuously. The photographic material is relatively vast so it had to be divided into several separate articles. At first we will begin with some outer details. Then, for instance the whole cockpit, opened engine compartment and further surface details will come later on.

Here you can find the cockpit interior details of Cessna Bird Dog. If you need also the outer reference material, please click my previous post with some walk-aroud shots. All the photographs posted below were shot by Juraj Bojkovsky to whom I am deeply thankful. He was told I am a real Bird Dog fan who likes to get every detail documented thorougly. Now It has to be said – he made an excellent work for all of us modellers!

Cessna O-1 / L-19 Bird Dog details Pt. I.

icon-1
The Cessna Bird Dog served mainly as liaison and observation airplane and as the FAC (Forward Air Control) during Korean and later Vietnam war. You can find the rich operation history of this small, but hard-working bird by visiting this link. Bird Dog plane is on retirement now but it keeps flying on air shows to these days. I found two nice exhibits resting inside a military hangar at Brumowski Air Basein Austria. Both of them looked like being in flyable conditions:
